Zelensky Refuses to Recognize Russian as Official Language in Ukraine
Ukraine does not intend to grant official language status to Russian in the context of the resolution of the conflict with Russia. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“We have one official language – Ukrainian. The Russians can say whatever they want. I believe they are putting forth such ultimatums to complicate the negotiation process,” he said.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had stated that Zelensky must first repeal the discriminatory laws that literally destroy the rights of the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine before sitting down at the negotiating table with Russia.
