Agreement to Be Signed in the U.S. Contradicts Yerevan's Interests, Threat to Russia and Iran: Zatulin
The agreements expected to be signed during the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the U.S. do not align with the interests of official Yerevan, Konstantin Zatulin, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma’s Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs Committee, told TASS while commenting on the conditions of the peace treaty being prepared between Baku and Yerevan.
The parliament member pointed out that if the price of mediation for peaceful resolution is the handover of the so-called ‘Zangezur Corridor’ to U.S. control, it would pose a threat to Iran.
“This certainly serves the interests of the United States and to some extent also Israel, as the ‘Zangezur Corridor’ and the unity of Azerbaijan and Turkey threaten not only us but also Iran,” said the deputy.
