We Are Interested: Ashotyan on Samvel Karapetyan's New Political Force
The Republican Party of Armenia is interested in the emergence of a new political entity that is strong ideologically in the political landscape. This was stated by the Vice President of the RPA, Armen Ashotyan, during a press conference, addressing the new political force being created by businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan.
"I believe we might be rushing a bit in this area, as this topic is being discussed more than what is visible in objective reality. I would like the team working on Samvel Karapetyan's project not to hurry with such Q&A interactions. That means there are expectations from the public; however, this media-political discourse should not rush these people, nor should it delay them. I do not intend to act as their advisor, but I can be a good friend," said Ashotyan.
Addressing the existing disagreements within the opposition, he noted that the RPA can be a good partner for the political force of Armenia's second president Robert Kocharyan, but not a spouse. "Today’s opposition is not flexible enough for us to claim that we can fill that space. For a new opposition force to emerge, the remaining opposition forces must be interested," emphasized the Vice President of the RPA.
It is worth noting that in a message sent from prison on July 4, Samvel Karapetyan stated that it is time to unite around a fundamentally new force and become one united fist, effectively announcing the creation of a new political entity.
