Netanyahu Threatens New Plan for Annexation of Gaza
If Hamas does not agree to the release of hostages and a ceasefire, Israel will begin the annexation of certain parts of Gaza (the forcible retention of any people in the territory of a foreign state). This was reported by the Haaretz newspaper.
According to the newspaper, the proposal on this matter was presented by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a closed meeting with members of his cabinet. The publication claims that Israel intends to give Hamas one more opportunity.
The article also notes that Netanyahu has chosen this course of action to secure the support of the far-right Religious Zionism party, which opposes both a ceasefire and the increase of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Keeping this party in the coalition is essential to prevent the current government's collapse.
