Pashinyan Does Not Rule Out the Option of Privatizing the Electric Networks
“This story did not start recently; dissatisfaction regarding the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) began during my regional visits when complaints were received from citizens. Our goal is as follows: at this stage, the state should take over the management of ENA, and we will take it. However, we have not said at any point that the state will always be the manager of Armenia's energy networks after the process of nationalization or during it. We must find the most effective manager and establish public and state control over that management,” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a press conference today, not ruling out the option of privatization.
Pashinyan stated that ENA, during its preceding activities, did not take adequate steps despite numerous recommendations and requests from the government, and therefore, the government is obliged to take adequate steps. Later, the Prime Minister noted that ENA cannot be given to a management entity from a country with which we have closed borders and lack diplomatic relations.
