Trump Declares State of Emergency in Kerr County
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a state of emergency in Kerr County, Texas, via his Truth Social page. According to Trump, this measure will enable the immediate allocation of necessary resources to the areas hardest hit by flooding.
He noted that many Americans have been unable to escape the wrath of the natural disaster, and others are still missing. However, emergency services have managed to save over 850 lives.
Trump added that his administration continues to collaborate with state and local authorities. It is worth mentioning that severe flooding has occurred in central Texas this week, with the Guadalupe River rapidly rising to its second-highest level on record.
Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem visited the affected areas. The National Weather Service has declared a state of emergency in several cities within Kerr County due to the ongoing disaster. The threat of flooding remains for more than 500,000 residents in the region.
