Russian Channels to Be Censored in Armenia if This Approach Continues
If this approach continues, there should be a censorship, as the language and rhetoric used against Armenian state officials is disgraceful, along with the support shown for groups that initiated terrorism in Armenia. This was stated by Vaheghn Aleksanyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, during a parliamentary briefing in response to the question of whether Russian channels should be censored in Armenia.
Aleksanyan also emphasized that this attitude has been tolerated for a long time, but at some point, it can no longer be tolerated and action must be taken. He did not specify whether there are discussions on such a decision. “From a political perspective, I can say that, in my understanding, if this vocabulary continues, at some point it must definitely be shut down. How do you imagine switching on Armenia’s public television and listening to such statements about Russian state officials?” he stated.
