We Hope Lavrov is Not Well-Informed: Not Encouraging Terrorism in Armenia - Konjoryan
The head of the "Civil Contract" faction in the Armenian National Assembly, Hayk Konjoryan, has responded to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's statements regarding "attacks on the Church."
"Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that 'attacks on the Church in Armenia are a serious cause for concern.' Firstly, the ongoing processes in Armenia are an internal affair of the country. Secondly, the comments made by the Russian Foreign Minister represent a direct attempt to interfere in Armenia's internal political life. Thirdly, the phrasing used by Mr. Lavrov is identical to the lexicon used by groups calling for terrorism in Armenia. We hope this is merely a result of a misunderstanding of the topic and not an attempt to encourage terrorism in Armenia," said Konjoryan.
It should be noted that earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that 'the situation in Armenia is an internal affair of the country. The attacks on the Church by the Armenian authorities are concerning for Russia.'
