Using Famine as a Weapon of War is Unacceptable: Pope Leo XIV
It is unacceptable to use the denial of access to food and starvation as a method of waging war. This was stated by Pope Leo XIV, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“Today we are concerned to see how famine is dishonestly used as a weapon of war. Starving a population is a very cheap way to conduct warfare,” his message reads.
The Pope notes that water supply networks and communications are becoming military targets. “Those responsible for such actions and abuses must be punished. Therefore, we must abandon unproductive rhetoric and, as Pope Francis said, resolutely resolve disputes by creating an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual trust to meet common needs,” Leo XIV added.
