Former State Duma Deputy Prohibited from Entering Armenia
Franz Klintsevich, a former State Duma deputy and Federation Council senator, as well as the head of the Afghan Veterans Union, has been denied entry into Armenia during a private visit to Yerevan. After going through document checks at the "Zvartnots" airport border control, he was forced to return to Moscow.
Klintsevich stated in a phone call to a correspondent from KP, "The border guards told me that my entry is banned. I came to meet with those who helped me stop the memorial dedicated to Afghan veterans," he said. According to Klintsevich, he had no intention of meeting with any officials, and his failed visit was purely personal.
