The US Presence Will Permanently Remain in the Alliance, Says Mark Rutte

The United States does not intend to reduce its military presence in the eastern flank of NATO. This was stated by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte during a press conference held in Vilnius, according to The New York Times.

The NATO Secretary-General mentioned that he is continuously asked two questions: whether the United States, as a member of the alliance, is still committed to its collective security obligations, and whether it will withdraw its troops.

“The United States remains committed to the obligations it has undertaken under Article 5 of the NATO Charter. There are no signs indicating troop withdrawal,” Rutte responded.

Additionally, Polish President Andrzej Duda noted that he has had several opportunities in recent months to talk with US President Donald Trump and his team. “There is no information regarding the United States' intention to withdraw troops from the eastern flank of NATO,” Duda stated.
