Trump Ready to Recognize Russia's Control Over Crimea, CNN
CNN reports that the Trump administration has expressed a willingness to recognize Russia's control over Crimea as part of a U.S. proposal aimed at ceasing hostilities with Ukraine.
There has been no immediate comment from Kyiv on this matter. According to a source within CNN, the proposal also includes the establishment of a ceasefire along a peace line.
The plan was discussed on Thursday in Paris, with Europeans and Ukrainians, and was also presented to the Russian Federation during a phone call between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
According to the same source, some details of the plan still need to be clarified, and the U.S. plans to continue discussions with Europeans and Ukrainians in London next week.
