We Do Not Wish for Memory to Become Only a Source of Pain and Grief: Simonian
Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonian's message on the 110th anniversary of the Genocide: "Dear compatriots,
April 24 is one of the heavy and sorrowful days of our national memory. On this day, we commemorate the memory of one and a half million innocent Armenians who became victims of genocide simply for being Armenian.
The Armenian Genocide is a deep wound in history that still resonates with the voice of justice today. It is our commitment to build a united, strong, and peaceful Armenia, based on the lessons of the past and directed towards a sustainable future.
We do not forget what happened, but we also do not wish for memory to become only a source of pain and grief; it should make us more determined and visionary in our future steps.
We bow before the memory of all the martyrs and renew our commitment to defend our statehood, value peace, and ensure a dignified future for our generations.
Eternal glory to the memory of the innocent victims."
