EU Plans to Impose Tough Tariffs Against the US: Politico
The European Union is considering the possibility of imposing retaliatory tough tariffs against the United States, as well as reducing purchases of American weapons. This was reported by the newspaper Politico.
“Previously, we used to say, yes, we can appease him (US President Donald Trump) by buying F-35 fighter jets, Patriot systems, liquefied natural gas, and other American products, and he would calm down. But I think that is an overly simplistic strategy; it doesn't work, at least not at this point,” quotes the publication Bundestag member Peter Beyer.
According to Politico, the retaliatory measures could include creating new supply routes for weapons, strengthening the autonomy of the European defense industry, and implementing a so-called counter-sanction mechanism.
