U.S. Troop Levels in Syria Could Be Reduced
The number of U.S. troops in Syria may be reduced to 500. This was reported by the New York Times (NYT), citing its sources.
According to information, three of the eight U.S. operational bases in the northeastern part of the country will be closed in the near future, and the number of soldiers will decrease from approximately 2,000 to 1,400.
NYT reports that a decision regarding further troop withdrawals will be made in about two months, which could leave around 500 service members in Syria.
The Defense Ministry continues to redistribute forces based on operational needs and incidents, the spokesperson said.
