The Country Would Greatly Benefit if It Becomes the 51st State of the U.S.: Trump
U.S. President Donald Trump continues to advocate for Canada’s inclusion as a state within the United States. This was announced by White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt during a press briefing for journalists, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"The President still stands by his position regarding Canada. The United States has subsidized Canada’s defense capabilities. And he still believes that Canadians would greatly benefit if the country became the 51st state of the United States," said the White House spokesperson.
Trump has repeatedly stated that Canada should become part of the U.S. He specifically noted that Canada would be "much better off" as the 51st state. The politician has also claimed that his country loses $200 billion a year because of Canada, and he will not allow this to continue. Furthermore, Trump expressed the view that significant savings on taxes and defense could be advantageous for Canadians when discussing Canada joining the U.S.
