Georgian Football Federation President Responds to Fans' Incident

Following the match against Armenia, the President of the Georgian Football Federation, Levan Kobiashvili, responded to the actions of a portion of fans who invaded the pitch.

“Thank you to our loyal supporters who created an incredible atmosphere at the Dinamo Arena throughout the match. Your immense support was felt in the stadium and, as always, it greatly motivated the team. For that, I want to thank you once again. However, I must mention the incident that occurred after the match, when a small fraction of the spectators invaded the field, creating an unpleasant situation both on the field and near the visiting team's stands. Such behavior towards the visiting team's fans is unacceptable. Due to these absolutely intolerable actions, we have offended both the visiting team’s supporters and did not allow our national team to celebrate the victory with their loyal fans.

This behavior harms football and casts a shadow on our country’s international reputation. This incident could lead to the imposition of sanctions by UEFA, which would harm our national team and Georgian football fans.

Thank you to the visiting team and their fans who created a friendly environment in Tbilisi and Yerevan. Special thanks to the President of the Football Federation of Armenia and our partners for their high-level hospitality. The close ties between the two countries are also confirmed by Georgia and Armenia's joint bid to host one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments. I hope that in 2029, Georgia and Armenia will become joint hosts of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
