There Is No Obstacle to the Implementation of the Peace Process: Galyan
I cannot say at this moment, because a working group will be working on the new text of the Constitution, but we have no intention of keeping it closed and secret. When the commission starts its work, there will be regular updates.
This was stated by the Minister of Justice, Surbhi Galyan, during a press conference, responding to the question of whether the reference to the recognition of Artsakh will remain in the Constitution. The minister noted that ultimately, we must not forget how and by whom the new text of the Constitution will be adopted.
“When the final text is ready, the public will either approve this text or will not approve it,” she said. The minister emphasized that the current text of the Constitution does not contain any obstacles to the implementation of the peace process, and this has also been stated by the Constitutional Court.
“Our position is clear; we do not have an issue of changing the Constitution for the sake of a perceived problem there, no. I remind you when the work on amending the Constitution and having a new Constitution began. We all remember, don’t we, when it started? After the revolution, there were periodic discussions about the need to change the Constitution or to have a new Constitution. Later, when the events known to all of us took place, certain concerns were voiced by certain individuals, and those concerns were completely alleviated by the decision of the Constitutional Court,” she said.
