Olaf Scholz Calls Reports of Upcoming Moscow Visit False
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, has deemed statements made by opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU) lawmaker Roderich Kiesewetter regarding his intentions to visit Moscow before February 23 as false.
The lawmaker had written on X, claiming there was evidence that Scholz could visit Russia ahead of the Bundestag's extraordinary elections scheduled for February 23. However, Kiesewetter did not provide any sources for this information.
"This is a false declaration. It is deeply indecent," Scholz stated before a session of the Social Democratic Party of Germany.
Earlier, the press service of the German Cabinet also reported that the news about an imminent visit to Moscow by Scholz was fabricated.
