Attempt to Poison Bashar Assad

According to the publication, the attempt occurred in late December. The article states that Assad felt unwell and sought medical assistance, after which his condition stabilized. Sources indicate that traces of poison were found in Assad's system.
Assad arrived in Moscow on the evening of December 8, having left Syria after militants from the Islamist group Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham gained control of Damascus.
