35,000 Refugees Return to Syria from Turkey
Since the change of power in Syria, more than 35,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their homeland from Turkey. This was announced by Ali Erlikaya, the head of Turkey's Ministry of Interior, during a broadcast on NTV.
“From December 8 to 29, about 1,700 people have returned to Syria daily from Turkey, mainly to Aleppo,” the minister stated.
He also mentioned that there are plans to open a representation at the Turkish embassy in Damascus to address the issues of refugees.
There are approximately 2.9 million Syrian refugees in Turkey. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced projects to ensure the return of around 1 million refugees to Syria since 2011.
