Shark Attacks Tourists in Egypt
One tourist has died and another has been injured following a shark attack at the Marsa Alam resort in Egypt, according to Reuters, citing a statement from the country's Ministry of Environment.
The ministry noted that the attack occurred at a significant depth, outside the designated swimming areas near the docking stations north of Marsa Alam.
Swimming from the docks has been prohibited, and the docking stations will be closed for two days starting Monday.
While sharks are present in the Red Sea, encounters with them are rare.
Marsa Alam is a coastal city in Egypt known for its coral reefs, marine flora and fauna, and beaches.
