Aloush on Future American Military Presence in Syria
The decision regarding the future American military presence in Syria will be made by the people of the Arab Republic. This was stated by the prominent Syrian politician, Mohammed Aloush, who is a former chief negotiator for the opposition delegation in the Geneva and Astana talks on Syria.
"The question of American military presence will be considered by the representatives of the people in terms of its appropriateness and the benefits derived from it," he said. At the same time, Aloush expressed hope that "Syria will become a country of both local and global peace, free from the presence of foreign military bases from any side."
Mohammed Aloush is one of the founders of the 'Jaysh al-Islam' group and has led its political wing. In 2016, he was appointed the chief negotiator for the opposition in the inter-Syrian peace talks in Geneva, and in 2017 he led the Syrian opposition delegation at the meetings held in Astana.
