The Most Difficult Period is Behind Us Since December 8: Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope that after the downfall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, the most challenging times for neighboring Syria are behind it. Speaking at a meeting in Ankara with the republic's ambassadors abroad, he also mentioned that he expects the new Syrian authorities to implement policies that reflect the interests of the entire society.
“We hope that since last Sunday (December 8), the most difficult period is behind us, and the new authorities will continue on their path with understanding, taking into account the interests of all parts of the Syrian people. We will also continue to be close to the Syrian people and provide necessary support to our Syrian brothers in everything they need,” Erdogan stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining Syria’s territorial integrity and sovereignty for Turkey.
