CSTO Poses Threat to Armenia's Security and Sovereignty – Pashinyan
“We have suspended our membership in the CSTO not only because it does not fulfill its security obligations towards Armenia, but also because the CSTO creates threats to Armenia's security, its future existence, sovereignty, and statehood,” said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the World Armenian Summit. The summit included discussions on Armenia's internal and external security.
Regarding the possibility of restoring activities within the CSTO, he stated that full restoration will only occur when specific answers are provided to the questions raised by Armenia: “It has been exactly 2 years since we made our emphasis; it is now obvious that these answers will not be forthcoming, and as long as those answers remain absent and unconvincing, every minute, every second, Armenia is moving further away from the CSTO.” According to him, Armenia has not yet crossed the point of no return, but the likelihood of doing so increases with the continuation of the current situation.
