North Korea Warns of Nuclear Clash Risks with the U.S.
North Korea has expressed dissatisfaction with the recent joint military exercises conducted by the United States and South Korea, stating that Washington and Seoul are demonstrating their intent to strengthen their collaboration against the North, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
"This fact clearly illustrates the danger posed by the American 'expanded deterrence strategy' to global peace and security. The Foreign Ministry of the DPRK expresses serious concern and firmly condemns and rejects the reckless actions of hostile forces that violate the strategic stability of the region and increase the likelihood of nuclear confrontation while openly attempting to carry out a nuclear attack on a sovereign state," the statement from the DPRK Foreign Ministry reads.
According to a representative from North Korea's Foreign Ministry, the continuous development and modernization of military measures by the U.S. to deliver a preemptive nuclear strike against the DPRK demonstrates a mockery of the DPRK and deception towards the international community regarding 'denuclearization' and 'dialogue'.
"The current situation, where the United States continues to attempt to use nuclear weapons against a sovereign state under the guise of 'deterrence', underscores the necessity for the DPRK to be endowed with more strategic and lethal nuclear deterrent capabilities that can reliably protect its sovereignty and security and rapidly expand its abilities to control the regional security situation," the DPRK official declared.
