"We have mutually agreed to remove this point from the peace agreement": Amirbekov
The representative of the President of Azerbaijan, Ambassador Elchin Amirbekov, has commented on the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace negotiations, Azerbaijan's demands, and the unblocking of communications.
"The territorial claims against Azerbaijan, which are included in Armenia's current constitution, remain the only obstacle to further progress in the peace process between Baku and Yerevan," Amirbekov stated in an interview with Radio Azatutyun.
According to Amirbekov, one of the contributing factors to the negotiations at this time is that both sides have reached a mutual agreement regarding the most contentious issue, the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor': "By mutual agreement, we decided to remove this point from the peace agreement and move the discussion to a later phase... Thus, we decided to eliminate it from the text, but we can still reflect the fact that this is one of the issues that the countries can return to in the future for discussion and agreement," he concluded.
