Kyiv Planned a Secret Operation: Russian Defense Minister Called His American Counterpart
Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov has contacted Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and indicated that they have information about a secret operation being planned by Ukraine against Russia. Following the call, the U.S. urged Kyiv to cancel the operation.
This was reported by The New York Times, citing three informed sources. The call took place on July 12.
According to the newspaper's sources, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov asked his American counterpart Lloyd Austin whether the Pentagon was aware of preparations for a secret operation against Russia by Ukraine, and warned him about the potential threat of rising tensions between Moscow and Washington.
The sources mentioned that the Russian Defense Minister's remarks were taken "quite seriously," and that following the conversation, the Pentagon established contact with Kyiv and warned that even if a secret operation was in development, it should be canceled.
