A Citizen of Armenia Arrested for the Murder of a Russian National in Tbilisi
A citizen of Armenia has been arrested for the murder of a Russian national in Tbilisi, according to Georgian media reports.
The body of the 40-year-old Russian was discovered by passersby in a park near the Baratashvili Monument in central Tbilisi in the early hours of August 28. The murder occurred following an argument at a supermarket.
Investigators indicate that during the altercation, the suspect struck the Russian citizen multiple times with a sharp weapon and a blunt object before fleeing the scene. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that the arrested individual is a foreign citizen but did not disclose their nationality. According to reports from “News of Georgia,” the media indicates that he is a citizen of Armenia.
The police identified and arrested the suspect shortly after the incident. The murder weapon has been seized as evidence.
