Putin to Present Russia's Position on EU to Pashinyan, Says Peskov
During a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Bishkek as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin will once again present Moscow's position regarding Armenia's intentions to join the EU. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, as reported by TASS.
“High-level communication is important every time. The president will certainly use this meeting to reiterate our arguments. However, we cannot be more Armenian than the Armenians themselves. Ultimately, it is the Armenians who will decide about their fate. We are indeed suggesting that they conduct a referendum,” Peskov stated.
He reminded that the leaders of other EAEU countries have taken a corresponding position, having made a statement at the recent summit held in Astana.
“This is exactly what will be discussed,” the Kremlin representative added.
