VIDEO: Ferry Capsizes Off the Coast of Northern Cyprus, Casualties Reported
A ferry capsized off the coast of Northern Cyprus, resulting in human casualties, according to Erhan Arıklı, the transport minister of the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The vessel, carrying 279 passengers, encountered a maritime disaster 2.5 kilometers from the shores of Girne, as previously reported by the minister. Approximately 100 survivors have been transported to the port of Girne, where they are receiving medical care.
“There are casualties related to the ferry incident, but we cannot provide exact information regarding their number at this time,” Arıklı told Ahaber television.
