Following the statements made by the US Treasury Secretary, the spokesperson for the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, has republished an article by Nobel laureate Paul Krugman that highlighted the lies of the US Treasury Secretary and his complete inability to manage markets.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Ghalibaf mocked US Treasury Secretary Basnet's claim that 130 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz in two weeks on his social media page Saturday evening. The Iranian parliamentary speaker addressed him, stating that the actual figure of 130 refers either to the 130 billion dollar loss caused by the war with Iran, according to Moody's Allanalytics data, or to the 130 million dollar loss incurred by the company that was secretly intervening in the paper oil markets on behalf of the US government, of which Iran was made aware.

Ghalibaf also noted that the yield on US Treasury bonds is in crisis and continues to rise, labeling the secretary a liar.
