Estonian President Announces Country Does Not Intend to Close Border with Russia
The crisis resulting from the disappearance of buoys intended to mark navigation routes in the border river Narva is still not a reason to close the border with Russia, stated Estonian President Alar Karis.
“Finland has closed its eastern border, but the Estonia-Russia border remains open despite incidents,” he noted.
According to him, this decision is influenced by the fact that people have relatives on the other side of the border. Nevertheless, the president stated that if necessary, the Estonian side would “very quickly close the border with Russia.”
