Drivers' Demands Will Not Be Met: Head of Yerevan Transport Department Sets Conditions
There are issues within the "Yerevan Bus" LLC that will be made public in the coming days. This was stated by Vazgen Harutyunyan, the acting head of Yerevan's Transport Department, during a conversation with reporters. Earlier, Haik Kostanyan, the press secretary of the Yerevan Mayor, mentioned that some drivers on public transport routes had failed to fulfill their work duties and strayed off their designated routes. The Yerevan Municipality considered this initiative by the drivers as a sabotage against the ongoing reforms in the transport sector.
However, the drivers unanimously claim that Samvel Nazaryan, the acting director of "Yerevan Bus" LLC, is unjustly dismissing long-time employees and replacing them with his close associates, which is why they refuse to work under him and are demanding the return of their former managers.
“There are all grounds for dismissing employees. No employee has been unjustly fired and will not be. If an employee does not perform their work duties properly and issues arise in the normal operation of the company, this also causes such a situation with that employee,” said Harutyunyan.
He emphasized that he does not wish to publicly discuss the current issues within the company, as he assumes that in some cases, the actions of employees may be subject to legal evaluation.
