Erdogan Explains Why His Visit to the U.S. Was Canceled
Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that the reason for the cancellation of his visit to the U.S. and his meeting with President Joe Biden was due to scheduling conflicts on both sides. He mentioned this in an interview with the Greek newspaper Kathimerini.
Erdogan had initially planned to visit the U.S. on May 9, but the trip was postponed. The postponement of the visit has been widely discussed in Greek media, prompting a journalist to ask the Turkish leader for clarification on the situation.
“Our visit to the U.S. was postponed due to scheduling incompatibilities on both sides. As you know, the United States is in the lead-up to elections, and Mr. Biden’s schedule has also become even tighter,” Erdogan said.
According to him, Ankara and Washington are now discussing a new date that would be convenient for both sides.
