The Middle East Will Only Stabilize After the Establishment of Palestine, Says Guterres

The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, believes that only the establishment of a Palestinian state will halt the war between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement. He also cautioned that the situation in Gaza could spread to other countries in the Middle East.

“The war in Gaza is an open wound that threatens to infect the entire region. The only sustainable way to end the cycle of violence and instability is through a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace and security, and Jerusalem as the capital of both states,” Guterres wrote.
