Suspect Who Fired at Slovakia's Prime Minister Detained
The Slovak criminal court has detained Juraj Cintula, the man accused of attempting to assassinate Prime Minister Robert Fico, reports TASR agency.
“The man suspected of attempting to murder the Prime Minister has been taken into custody by the court,” the statement reads.
It is worth noting that the assassination attempt on Fico, who has repeatedly opposed supplying weapons to Ukraine and NATO membership, occurred on May 15 in the town of Handlová, located 190 kilometers from Bratislava. As the Prime Minister stepped out to greet gathered citizens, five shots were fired.
He was struck by four bullets, after which he was flown by helicopter to a hospital, underwent surgery, and was then placed in an induced coma. According to the latest reports, his condition is stable but still serious.
