We Have Not Had Any Such Request: Armen Grigoryan on Armenia's "Request" to Russia
The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, effectively refuted statements made by Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, claiming that the Armenian side had requested Russia to continue its border guard duties along the Armenian-Iranian and Armenian-Turkish borders.
"We have proposed to Russia that the Russian bases at the airport, in Sisian, and in Goris, as well as the 17 border points, withdraw. They accepted and asked whether we want them to withdraw from the Armenia-Iran and Armenia-Turkey borders as well. We said that this is contractual and we are not discussing it. We have not had any such request; I am recounting what has happened, leaving the rest to the public's judgment," he said.
