Russian Border Guards Remain in Armenia, Says Bortnikov
Russian border guards will maintain their presence in Armenia. This was announced by the acting head of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov. “Our presence, in the form of border guards, remains in Armenia,” he said at a meeting of the Federation Council.
He clarified that Russian border guards will monitor Armenia's border with Turkey and Iran. Bortnikov also stated that Yerevan has requested the withdrawal of temporary operational groups of Russian border guards from the demarcation line, and such a decision has been made. At the request of the Armenian side, the "Zvartnots" airport border checkpoint will also be closed.
