UN Expands Palestinian Rights Within Organization
The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution that expands the rights of Palestine within the global organization, while also advising the Security Council to positively reconsider the issue of the country's membership in the UN. This was reported by The Economist.
As a result of the resolution, Palestine will now gain the right to make statements on behalf of groups of countries and will have full participation rights in UN conferences, as well as international conferences and consultations held under the auspices of the General Assembly or other UN bodies.
The resolution was supported by 143 countries, with 9 against and 25 abstaining.
