Israel Approves Significant Expansion of Operations in Rafah
The Israeli military cabinet has approved a significant expansion of military operations in the city of Rafah, located in the Gaza Strip near the Egyptian border. This was reported by the Axios news portal, citing sources within the government.
According to the portal, indirect negotiations aimed at halting military operations in Gaza have concluded in Cairo. Israel will continue its operations in Rafah and other areas of the Gaza Strip, as previously planned.
On the morning of May 10, the Israeli armed forces launched new artillery strikes on Rafah in southern Gaza following the unsuccessful conclusion of peace talks in Cairo. Nearly 100,000 Palestinians are fleeing Rafah towards the north in an attempt to escape Israeli attacks. UN Secretary-General Guterres has emphasized that a massive ground assault on the city could lead to a catastrophic humanitarian disaster.
