Amirbekov Discusses Azerbaijan's Response if Armenia Rejects the Zangezur Corridor
The opening of what is referred to as the 'Zangezur Corridor' will not only help Armenia improve its relations with Turkey but also generate additional revenue from transit fees, stated Elchin Amirbekov, a representative of the Azerbaijani President for special assignments, in an interview with the German newspaper 'Zeit.'
According to Amirbekov, this would also enable Armenia to overcome its isolation. He emphasized that if the official Yerevan rejects the road and railway passing through Zangezur, Azerbaijan would construct such routes through Iranian territory. 'We can build the road and railway further south, through Iran, and it will be only 10 kilometers longer,' he said.
