How Much Damage Has Been Done to the Ukrainian Energy System Due to Russian Strikes
In recent months, Russian forces have inflicted more than $1 billion in damage to the Ukrainian energy system, as stated by Ukraine's Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko.
It is reported that thermal and hydropower plants, as well as electricity transmission systems, have suffered the most significant damage due to the massive attacks. Simultaneously, daily strikes using drones, ballistic missiles, and artillery continue against various types of energy facilities.
“Today, we are talking about more than $1 billion in damage. However, the attacks are ongoing, and it is clear that the losses will increase,” said Galushchenko.
He also noted that, thanks to favorable weather conditions, it is currently possible to balance the energy system using renewable energy sources.
