US Reaffirms Support for Armenia's Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty
Members of the Armenia-US Friendship Group of the National Assembly, led by group chairman and head of the 'Civil Contract' faction, Haik Konjoryan, along with the chairman of the Permanent Committee on Foreign Relations, Sargis Kandanyan, the chairman of the Permanent Committee on Issues of European Integration, Arman Yeghoyan, the chairman of the Permanent Committee on Financial and Budgetary Issues, Tzovinar Vardanyan, MP Arsen Torosyanc, and Armenia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the US, Lilit Makunts, met in Washington with Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to President Joe Biden and Senior Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council.
Michael Carpenter reaffirmed the United States' support for Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty and welcomed the ongoing demarcation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan based on the Alma-Ata Declaration.
The Armenian lawmakers highlighted the importance of the high-level meeting held in Brussels on April 5, welcoming the active engagement of the United States and the European Union in strengthening Armenia's resilience and economic diversification.
The discussion also covered the 'Peace Crossroads' project, which could serve as a vital component for both regional and broader economic cooperation, contributing to peace and prosperity in the region.
Michael Carpenter praised the steps taken towards strengthening democracy in Armenia, noting that the United States stands by Armenia in its efforts for democratic development and the reinforcement of its sovereignty.
