The Scent of War: Pavel Muraveiko
Pavel Muraveiko, Deputy Secretary of the State Security Council of Belarus, told the Russian news agency TASS that the Western attacks on Russia and Belarus are leading towards conflict, but both Moscow and Minsk are doing everything they can to ensure stability.
He drew attention to the "aggressive attacks" that Russia and Belarus are facing, stating that these include sanctions, closed borders, the construction of barriers at the border, and the deployment of military units.
"All of this indicates that there is a scent of war in the air, but the leadership of the Republic of Belarus and the leadership of the Russian Federation are doing everything possible and even the impossible to maintain peace and stability in the western direction," said Muraveiko.
Among the strategic deterrent factors, he noted the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory and the active rearmament of the Belarusian army.
