Armenia Could Receive Azerbaijani Gas, Building Pipeline to Nakhchivan via Armenia Would Be Beneficial – Aliyev
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev does not rule out the possibility that Armenia could become a recipient of Azerbaijani gas. "Potentially, Armenia could also be a recipient of Azerbaijani gas, especially considering the very preferential price of gas supplied to Georgia. Naturally, in terms of rapprochement and infrastructure, it would make sense to have such cooperation," Aliyev stated.
The Azerbaijani president noted that the Zangezur corridor is seen not only as a means of railway or road communication but also as a potential route for communication lines. "This could potentially even become a gas pipeline," the country's leader said.
Aliyev further mentioned that Azerbaijan has an agreement with Iran to supply natural gas to Nakhchivan. In addition, Baku is funding the construction of another pipeline that will supply Azerbaijani gas to Nakhchivan from Turkey. "But that is like touching your left ear with your right hand; if it passes through Armenian territory, it would be beneficial for everyone and save a lot of money,” he added.
