IRGC Officers Leave Syrian Territory Amid Possible Israeli Strikes: WSJ

Amid threats of Israeli strikes, the command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has withdrawn some of its officers from Syria. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources.

According to the report, mid-level officers will remain in Syria but will be relocated due to security concerns. "Tehran has also begun to withdraw personnel from Syrian sites where the IRGC has a significant presence," Syrian and Iranian officials and advisors told the publication.

Syrian security sources informed the Wall Street Journal that the IRGC and the Lebanese Hezbollah group have reduced the presence of their senior officers in Syria. The publication notes that an attack on Iranian sites in Syria would allow Israel to deliver a 'revenge strike' while avoiding a large-scale war in the region. Several Arab officials have indicated that Israel will likely warn its regional allies in Arab countries before taking retaliatory actions against Iran.
