No Israeli Embassy Is Safe Anymore in the World: Iran's Warning
No Israeli embassies worldwide are considered safe following an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus. This statement was made by General Yahya Safavi, the chief military advisor to Iran's spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
“The military attack on the consulate and the deaths of Iranian advisers, who were legally present there at Syria's invitation, is a violation of international law, and no Israeli embassy is safe anymore,” Safavi's statement was quoted by Tasnim news agency.
Referencing the words of Iran's leader that the Islamic Republic would make the Jewish state regret its attack on the consulate, Safavi warned that “the front of resistance forces is ready; we must wait and see what happens.”
Earlier reports indicated that Israeli authorities had closed 28 diplomatic missions in various countries due to threats from Iran.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi had promised to take revenge on Israel for the consulate attack in Damascus, where two generals and five officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed.
An Israeli Defense Forces representative stated that the country takes any threats directed at it seriously and is prepared for any scenario.
On April 1, Israeli forces targeted the diplomatic quarter of Damascus, where the Iranian consulate is located. The consulate was completely destroyed; the attack resulted in the deaths of Iranian generals Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haja Rahimi, as well as five officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Ebrahim Raisi stated that those responsible for the strike and their sponsors “will be punished by the Mujahideen.”
