Hamas Rejects Israel's Latest Proposal on Hostage Deal

The Palestinian Hamas movement has rejected Israel's latest proposal regarding the exchange of hostages taken on October 7, a diplomat familiar with the negotiations told CNN.

This week, Israeli authorities sent a proposal to the movement, which rejected two of Hamas's main demands: the unrestricted return of Gazan residents to the north and the withdrawal of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops, the diplomat stated in a televised interview.

The diplomat added that Israel continues to insist on allowing checks on individuals heading to the enclave's north and that IDF troops should not be withdrawn from the Gaza Strip.
