Armenian Armed Forces on Combat Readiness Multiple Times in 2023, Says Papikyan
Due to the security situation surrounding Armenia, the year 2023 has been quite challenging for the country’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces. This was stated by Defense Minister Suren Papikyan during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly on March 25, while discussing the report on the implementation of the government program (2021-2026) for the year 2023.
According to him, the Armed Forces have been at various stages of combat readiness throughout the year. The management bodies operated in an enhanced mode. “Due to the escalation of the situation, in May and September 2023, the Armed Forces were brought to varying degrees of combat readiness. Combat duty and service were carried out under conditions of heightened military readiness, alongside the restoration of the Armed Forces' potential and their reorganization and staffing, which was mainly carried out with consideration for the lessons learned and the application of international standards,” noted Papikyan.
